There's a great review of it at www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi . I might have to borrow a TV.

Oliver Twist: Part 1 of 2. Timothy Spall and Tom Hardy star in a new film adaptation of Charles Dickens's tale of the young orphan Oliver who is sent to the workhouse. Sunday at 9:00pm

Part 2 is next Sunday (the 22nd)

It was pretty good. A couple "new" takes on stuff. <<No Spoilers>> They cast Nancy as a Black woman which was interesting, but actually worked well, for me anyway. Timothy Spall was great as Fagin! He is always fun to watch. He brought a real complexity to the role. I had an interesting "poor orphan double header" because I watched this Sunday night and then went to see Slumdog Millionaire the next day. BTW, I highly recommend that movie as well.
