So, check out this cape/cloak.

www.garbtheworld.com/items/g0112.shtml

I want it at $70 (apprx. $12 shipping - so $82 total). I called 'em and asked for their lightest material. They said they could make it out of a cotton twill(?) or was it tweed (?). Anyway, it would take 'em 4 weeks. Too long for this season.

I want theatrical material, not real life material, for DCF. But I'm not sure what the most realistic material is?

Any seamstresses out there wanna make a quick buck? I'd like to find one for the remainder of this season but fear I'm too late. Whats best material for theatricallity (sp.?)?

    Definitions:
    Tweed
    Tweed is a rough, unfinished woolen fabric, of a soft, open, flexible texture resembling cheviot or homespun, but more closely woven. It is made in either plain or twill weave and may have a check or herringbone pattern. Subdued, interesting color effects (heather mixtures) are obtained by twisting together differently coloured woolen strands into a two- or three-ply yarn.
    Twill;
    Twill is a type of fabric woven with a pattern of diagonal parallel ribs.
    Harris Tweed is a luxury twill handwoven on the Isle of Harris, Outer Hebrides, Scotland

    I would also ask them the circumference of the cape at the hem line as well as the length of the shoulder cape. Yes, it looks full in the picture but one can never tell from a photo.

    And yes the people in the costume shop do take commissions - we are all professional costumers who either depend upon our sewing for our income or use it to augment the household income.
