One of my favorite things to do at Dickens is join in the Hallelujah chorus, and tonight I had an idea that I want some opinions on.
What about singing "Auld Lang Syne on the last day of Dickens, as well as the Hallelujah Chorus? Heaven knows the song is old enough, and well known to lots of people, even if they don't know half the words. I only know the most standard version i.e. "should old acquaintence be forgot and never brought to mind?" etc, but couldn't we just sing that?
When I say "We", I mean anyone who wants to, patrons, playtons, or re-enactors.
Let me know what you think, and if this is do-able.

Sun, November 8, 2009 - 10:14 PMWell, couldn't we bring it back even though it's not new years? It's still an end of year type song, right? Please, don't make me beg here lol. -

Re: Hallelujah Chorus and other Music
Tue, November 10, 2009 - 12:21 PMFezzi's and Siamsa used to sing it at the end of Siamsa's dance set. but it made us run late, and we'd rather dance. :)
If you're at Carol Out, you could certainly ask Mr. Fezziwig if he'd be willing to add it.

Re: Hallelujah Chorus and other Music
Mon, November 9, 2009 - 12:19 PMLet's not forget that there's abasolutely no reason a group of folks can't trundle off to an alestand or some similar location for a chorus of Auld Land Syne at the end of the day - the more music, the merrier, doncha know. -

Re: Hallelujah Chorus and other Music
Tue, November 10, 2009 - 1:52 PMHave words printed on quarter sized sheets of paper, so folks can sing more than the one verse they know. And it's a tiny souvenir! -

Re: Hallelujah Chorus and other Music
Tue, November 10, 2009 - 4:36 PMYers indeed it can be an independant thang. I wasn't putting a kabosh on the idea , just ruminating as far as any form of "organised" singing.
